Not documented means the source does not establish the answer. No exact floor-and-underlay installation is approved by this table. Products with a recorded integrated barrier are shown here; separate-membrane arrangements need their own checks.
Underlay coverage and moisture protection answer different questions.
A roll that covers your room is not automatically the right underlay for it. The planner calculates the quantity and separately shows what the recorded product evidence says about laminate suitability and moisture protection.
Before choosing an underlay
- Identify the exact laminate product and its installation instructions.
- Confirm the concrete or screed is ready for that installation, including moisture measurements and surface preparation.
- Check whether the specified underlay includes the required vapour barrier or whether the installation needs a separate membrane.
- If the floor is heated, check both the floor and underlay against the heating system’s requirements.
As one manufacturer-specific example, Quick-Step instructs installers to measure moisture and use a damp-proof membrane over new concrete before laying its laminate. Drying time alone does not establish readiness. Read the Quick-Step concrete preparation guidance and the instructions for your actual floor.
How the planner treats missing information
If the recorded underlay explicitly has no moisture barrier, it is excluded for concrete unless you confirm that a separate membrane has been arranged. If the barrier information is missing, the result stays a candidate with that question clearly displayed. A named barrier alone does not approve an exact floor and underlay combination.
Example: how many rolls?
A 5 m × 4 m room is 20 m². With an illustrative 10% allowance, the target is 22 m². Underlay sold in 15 m² rolls would require two rolls. That calculation establishes quantity; the installation evidence determines whether the product belongs in your project.
Questions to resolve before ordering
Can an underlay replace a separate membrane?
Check the exact underlay specification and the laminate manufacturer’s installation instructions. The presence of an integrated barrier must be documented, and the required joint and perimeter treatment still matters.
What if I do not know whether the slab is dry?
Resolve this with the installer and the manufacturer’s measurement requirements before installation. The planner cannot infer moisture content from the building’s age or the time since the slab was poured.
What if I have underfloor heating?
Use the heating selector as well. A general laminate-suitability statement does not establish suitability for a particular heating system.
